Shortly after I entered the real estate market as an agent, I remembered a lesson my father had taught me. He told me if I had a goal I wanted to reach, that I should put a quarter in my shoe and every time I felt it I should remember my goal and keep after it. In setting my goals to provide the best resources and results for those who were buying or selling real estate, I put my quarter in and got to work. A few months later, I started wearing through a pair of shoes. Then the thought hit me...if a quarter is good, the street beneath my feet would be even better.
Not long after as I sat working with a developer and happened to have my legs crossed, the developer noticed the holes in my shoes and said, "surely you can afford to have those resoled!", to which I smiled, leaned forward and told him the story behind the holes.
The thought then came to use this motivation technique as an icon of my business. However, after bruising my feet multiple times on rocks that slipped into the holes of my shoes, I have retired my shoes and returned to the quarters. But the motivation and the reminder remains.
